Sayagyi Dr. U Soe Lwin‘s Dhamma posts and comments in “Let’s talk Dhamma (in English)” Facebook group provide short notes for Vipassana practitioners.

“If you understand impermanence, this right knowledge should be applied to whatever you know. In this way you realize the law of nature and you can live agreeable with the nature peacefully, because you yourself are nature. If you are against the nature, you will be in trouble.”

“Feeling, rich or poor, overwhelms all over the world. If we don’t understand very well, we cannot overcome the suffering due to feeling, fluctuating between rich and poor. So, we have to be mindful to the feeling as it is before being stuck with craving and attachment.”

“The Buddha discovered the nature of non-self as the central teaching to resolve all problem in the world. In the practice, the Buddha instructed mind and matter to use as the object of meditation to penetrate the nature and understand the phenomenal relationship between cause and effect of natural law. In this way, even if we understand one thing as such feeling, we can transcend all barriers to the end of all suffering, Nibbana.”

“Sometime breeze, sometime strom, there is no choice, we’ve got to accept both.In this way pleasant or unpleasant feeling can’t be denied, because they are the nature. With the arising of the cause, the effect will come. With the cessation of the cause, the effect will subside. Nobody can intervene. With this right knowledge we fully understand the feeling, the origin and cessation of the feeling and the way leading to the cessation of the feeling. In that way we are ones of the right view and have firmed confidence and reach at the true Dhamma.”

“Whatever happened has a cause.Without a cause nothing happens. With the arising of the cause, the effect arises. With the cessation of the cause, the effect ceases. This is the law of nature. In this way, everything is impermanent, suffering and nonself. If we know the thing the way it is, the delusion will be abandoned and greed and hatred will subside. This will lead to Nibbana, end of all suffering.”

“The branch cannot directly produce the leaf. The leaf is not stored in the branch, but all the things as weather, water, nutrition, are fulfilled, the leaf arises at the tip of the branch. In this case, with all the condition fulfilled, the leaf appears on its own.”

“Dependent on feeling, there arises Craving”With feeling as condition, craving comes to be”In the worldly life, mother loves her one and only son so much that she look for a baby-minder to take care of her son. Searching a baby minder is not because she loves her, but because she loves her son. Likewise, finding a sense object is not because of liking it, but because craving likes the feeling given from the sense object. So, craving tries to find a sense object to get pleasant sensation from it. In this event, we miss the pleasant feeling and we are bound to the sense object. One day, in the evening I felt hungry and went to the refrigerator to find for something to eat. While looking to choose what food is good to eat, I realized I am not choosing the foods, I am choosing the feeling that is given by the food. At that time, I realize whatever I want is not the things but, only feeling that is given by the things. I realize that not the curry I like, I like the feeling given by the curry, not the picture I like, I like the feeling given by the picture, not a person I like, I like the feeling given by him. Since then, I understand the feeling that influences all sentient beings over the world. We all are dominated by the feeling and all the people over the world are struggling for the pleasant feeling with greed, hatred and delusion. Since I realize the feeling with mindfulness, for whatever we like, this is not the things but only feeling that is attached with craving, being blind-folded by the ignorance. If we understand the feeling whenever we like something, we are aware of the pleasant feeling. Sometime we dislike something, I notice the unpleasant feeling happened within me. Mindfulness developed within us can discern the sense object outside and feeling within me and see the feeling as nature, not personal feeling as ours. This realization prevents the anger from arising in my mind.”
